# How to add a passkey

> Add a passkey to sign in to Vocab Monster with your device or password manager.

A passkey lets you sign in with a fingerprint, face recognition, device PIN, or security key. You can add one from your account's Security settings.

**1. Sign in to Vocab Monster**

Open the [app](https://app.vocabmonster.com) and sign in using an existing sign-in method.

**2. Open Account → Security**

In the app, open **Account**, then select **Security**. You can also go directly to [Account Security](https://app.vocabmonster.com/account#security).

**3. Select Add passkey**

In the **Passkeys** section, select **Add passkey**. Your browser or password manager will ask you to verify and save the passkey.

**4. Complete the device prompt**

Follow the instructions on screen. Depending on your device, you may use a fingerprint, face recognition, device PIN, or security key. When setup finishes, the new passkey appears in the Passkeys section.

Next time you sign in, follow [Sign in with a passkey](/help/account/sign-in-with-a-passkey.md). You don't need to enter your email first.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Keep another sign-in method available for recovery. Removing a passkey from Vocab Monster stops it from signing in to your account, but does not remove the saved passkey from your device or password manager.

## Rename or remove a passkey

In **Account → Security → Passkeys**, select **Rename** to change its name or **Remove** to revoke it for your Vocab Monster account. If the passkey option is unavailable, or you see a message that passkeys aren't enabled, use another sign-in method and contact support.

Passkeys require a supported browser and a secure connection. If the device prompt doesn't appear, try an up-to-date browser over HTTPS.
