# Which games use AI credits

> See which practice modes spend AI credits and which never do.

You can practice on any plan without spending credits. Credits are used only when a game **delivers** an AI-generated prompt.

**1 AI credit covers one delivered AI prompt.** For AI Memory Match, one credit covers one delivered pair. **Default** (system-selected) play uses a credit the same way as choosing a named model.

## Games that use credits

These modes generate content with an AI model:

* Fill in the Blank
* Context Detective
* Synonym Sprint
* Antonym Challenge
* Synonym Match
* Opposite Match

## Games that never use credits

These modes use your word data (definitions, audio, or matching) and do not spend credits:

* Quiz
* Flashcards (word → definition and definition → word)
* Definition Match
* Speed Round
* Spelling Bee

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you are out of credits, AI games stay unavailable until monthly credits refresh, you [upgrade](/help/account/change-your-plan.md), or you [buy AI credits](/help/account/buy-ai-credits.md). Non-AI games still work. Details on monthly vs purchased balances are in [How credits work](/help/account/how-credits-work.md).
